Kappabashi-dori
The first full day in Tokyo we go for a stroll down Kappabashi-dori in Asakusa, where you can find anything you need for a properly supplied kitchen such as dishes, bowls, pots, wax- and plastic food so you can lull your guests/customers into a false sensation of safety and anticipation (since the food which will eventually be served won't look anything near as delicious as those shining plastic prawns!)
The street is very long and we spent an entire afternoon trawling through the ceramic outlets to find that perfect teapot we have been looking for. Don't let the style of presentation fool you - these are not cheap or secondhand goods, it's all brand spanking new and some of the establishments had serious prices (how about a new sushi-knife for a mere 1500€?)
